Welcome from the Principal

Dear prospective students and parents,

Welcome to OIS!  I hope that via our website you will enjoy exploring our school, getting to know our community, and meeting some of our four legged friends who roam our beautiful campus.  But, more than that, I hope that it serves to encourage you to come and meet us in person and to start your own trail with us.

OIS is a unique learning adventure for our students. We offer a rigorous academic program which will challenge and develop young minds while consciously developing the personal skills that will equip them for life.  The constructivist approach of the International Baccalaureate’s PYP, MYP and DP curricula allow students to create their own knowledge as they learn from (and with) our excellent, kind and caring teachers.

We teach children to respect themselves and others and to be a force for sustainability in our ever-evolving world.

Our stunningly inspiring natural environment provides the perfect backdrop to develop practical and personal skills. OIS students climb trees, ride bikes and walk through woodlands during their lunch breaks. They offer service to our community by looking after our animals and by raising crops in the school garden.

We have an active outdoor education program so students develop resilience and teamworking skills. OIS students are prepared for a world where courage, adaptability and flexibility are essential assets.

We believe excellence is personal, so we offer a multitude of ways for our students to achieve – and all students can enjoy and celebrate success at their own level.

Our community is diverse, with over 40 nationalities represented and many languages spoken, so OIS students are welcoming, open-minded and inclusive.

The relationship between school and the parent body is intentionally respectful, supportive and strong. Through the work and commitment of our Parents Club, multiple activities are organised throughout the year to build and strengthen these relationships, while keeping our students’ learning as a focal point.

If you would like to come to visit us at school, please do get in touch.  We would love to show you around so you can feel the spirit of OIS and get to know us personally.

With kind regards,

Robert Tomalin

Principal
