What an incredible day of numbers and collaboration at the very first edition of Lisbon Maths Challenge!
We’re thrilled to share the highlights from an engaging competition where 54 Year 8 students from 7 international schools, including our own OIS, showcased their mathematical prowess.
A Day of Diverse Challenges
This year’s challenge was designed to test students in various ways, fostering both individual brilliance and crucial teamwork. Participants tackled:
- An individual challenge where problem-solving skills shone.
- A within-school teams challenge, encouraging our students to work together.
- A unique mixed-schools teams challenge, allowing students from different schools to collaborate and learn from each other.
It was truly inspiring to see how the team-based challenges, especially the mixed-schools segment, allowed many students who might not have been on the top individual podiums to gain significant points and ultimately reach the overall competition podium. This structure truly celebrated diverse strengths and collaboration!
Celebrating Success and Teamwork!
We’re incredibly proud that all participating schools were awarded medals, reflecting the high level of talent and dedication across the board.
And a huge cheer for OIS! Our students truly excelled, bringing home 10 out of the 30 medals awarded. This outstanding achievement is a testament to their hard work, adaptability, and fantastic team spirit.
